Are You Living In Fear?

There are a lot of things that could grab our attention and cause us to fear. All you have to do is look at the news on TV, and see the violence that is running rampant in our country, and that is enough to cause you to fear. Mass shootings in many different environments, groups of people going into retail places of business and clearing out whole departments of merchandise. At train stations, people being pushed onto the tracks by a person passing by them. The prices of food, well, everything is going up. Different countries flexing their muscles to show their strength and capabilities for war. No wonder we are walking in a constant state of fear.

I am here to tell you, that it is possible to live a life free of fear!

You might be thinking, “How can he be so adamant about being able to live without fear?” Because we have a very big God, who loves us and enables us to walk fear free, and he wants you to do the same. Our confidence is not to be based upon ourselves, or our own powers, but in God and his power. God has much to say about fear, and how to walk free from it. Let’s take a look at what God has to say about fear and how we are to see it, and how we can overcome it.

When we put our trust in God, and live for him, he gives us access to all that he is and all that he can do. There is a passage of scripture in Isaiah 41:10 That states: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, l will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Here God is commanding us not to fear! The reason why we are able to not fear, is because of God and his power. He promises to give us strength, to help us, and to uphold us with his power. (The right hand of God always denotes his power). Now that we know that God doesn’t want us to fear, we are at a crisis of belief. We can now, choose to continue to fear, or we must choose not to fear.

You might ask how do I choose not to fear, when I am afraid. Two reasons: God has given us a command not to fear, and when he gives us a command, he also gives us the power to obey his command. He wants us to tap into his power, by putting our faith in what he says. We take his promise, believe it, and speak it out of our mouths as a declaration. Example: “God you command me to fear not, for you are with me; to be not dismayed, for you are my God. You promise to strengthen me, to help me, and to uphold me with your power, therefore I choose not to fear, but to walk in your power fearless.”

I’m going to give you a few scriptures, that you can use to make declarations like the one that I just gave you from Isaiah 41:10. Here are the scriptures: Psalm 34:4, Psalm 56:11, Psalm 23:4-5, 2 Timothy 1:7, 1 John 4:18, Proverbs 3:25-26, Isaiah 54:14, John 14:27, Hebrews 13:6 and last but really not least, Psalm 91. Read the whole Psalm and make a declaration of it. It’s a very powerful passage of scripture to speak over your life. If you will meditate on these scriptures, you will see that God doesn’t want you to be in fear of anything. Walk by faith in what God has said, and speak what he said as a declaration of faith and confidence in him and what he can do.

The more that you walk this way, the easier it is to walk by faith instead of fear. Faith and fear are polar opposites. Faith is trusting in God and what he says. Fear is not trusting in God and what he says. Put your trust in God and what he promises. You will have a winning combination.
