Are You Thirsting For God?

The world has many things that it promotes as the thing that you need to satisfy yourself. Have you ever wondered why we are inclined to go after those things? Money, power, sex, prestige, material things and prominence are the things that the world offers us. You have the marketers using subliminal advertisements to seduce the people into going after these things. Causing dissatisfaction in us with what we already have and where we are already at in life. 1Timothy 6:6-11; Matthew 6:19-33

We have things that we thirst for in life, but do they really satisfy us? If we were satisfied, we would not have to go after other things to fill that void. The more that we get, the more that we want. It’s a never ending cycle. So how do we come off of this Ferreous Wheel? We were given this capacity to thirst for a reason other than to fulfill it with our lusts. God put within us a thirst so that we would thirst for him and the things that pertain to him and his kingdom. We were created as beings that worship. We will either give our worship to God or other things. Romans 1:20-25; John 4:14-24

The thirst that we have not satisfied, is the thirst for God himself. We go after all kinds of things except for God, the one who made us for himself. We were created for God to enjoy us, and for us to enjoy him. A mutual relationship with the creator and his creation. We were created in his image and likeness. He loves us and wants our company. When a person comes to the realization of this, there is a peace and contentment that we receive, that can’t be explained with words. The longing for significance is satisfied by God himself. John 6:33-35,47,48,51

God longs to have a renewed relationship with mankind. This relationship comes by way of the Son of God Jesus the Christ. The only way that we can connect with God, is through his Son Jesus. He dealt with the problem that mankind had, that separated us from God. What separated us from God was sin ie. (falling short of God’s perfection). Romans 3:23. Sin came into the world through a man and woman’s rebellion against God. Because sin originated from humanity’s rebellion, it had to be rectified by humanity. Jesus, the perfect human being, the God-man, lived a perfect life and satisfied the penalty for sin, which was death. Ie. (Separation from God, no access to him). Ephesians 2:12; Romans 6:23

Your hunger and thirst can be satisfied by you coming to Jesus Christ and admitting to him that you are a sinner, ie. (You have fallen short of God’s perfection with your actions), and that you repent of your sinful life, ie. (You have a change of mind and heart, and you are turning from your sin, to live for him). Tell him that you receive his forgiveness and his free gift of salvation. He will come into your heart and make you a new person. Your thirst and hunger will be satisfied in him. If you want to have a true life of significance then do this, and do it right away. The devil wants you to procrastinate, because he doesn’t want you to make the decision to surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Don’t hesitate, make the decision to receive this gift now! John 1:12-13; John 3:16-21,36
